Training for 2nd Shift Associates

Recently, my organization approached our team about providing training for associates who work on 2nd shift. This is a very new concept for us. I'm interested in learning if any of our members have their trainers conduct classes outside of the 'normal' work day and what, if any, issues have come up? Better yet, did you have to put any special arrangements in place to avoid conflict?

International Truck has done workshops and classes for 2nd and 3rd shifts to accommodate fleets needs and requests. The biggest thing that our team has experienced has been a tech from another shift is enrolled and does not make it through the training very well due to a work shift before or after the workshop each day.

I have seen some organizations outsource this type of training.  Identify technical trainers with the technical skills and teaching/training background to help you put the curriculum together and lead the training.  While not a perfect solution, an outside "expert" brings credibility and may avoid some of the challenges with an internal person.
